The Positive Aspects of Electric Lawn Mowers

!±8± The Positive Aspects of Electric Lawn Mowers

When it comes to lawn mowers, the predominant model in most homes today is the gasoline powered type. And this has proven its effectiveness through the years, especially with big lawns. However, with the recent concerns of our modern society, electric lawn mowers are slowly gaining ground in their bid to replace their gas-powered predecessors. And there are good reasons for you to participate in doing so. Here are some of them:

First, electric lawn mowers are convenient to use. All they really require is an overnight charging and a simple push of a button. This stands in stark contrast to a gasoline mower, where a pull cord, and a constant supply of gasoline is a must. One also has to know about chokes, engine starters, carburetors and other things, especially when the engine won't start, which happens more frequently in this type than with the electric version.

Second, electric lawn mowers are neighbor-friendly. That is because they are quiet, and they emit no smoke or fumes. This again is in contrast to the noisy roar of the gas version, which can be heard from several houses away, and wakes the neighbors up from their sleep. The gas-driven models also emit foul-smelling fumes, which can travel for several yards along a house or two, and further ruin the neighborhood ambience.

Thirdly, there is of course the environmental impact. We all know about global warming, and how fossil fuels contribute to it by the engine's carbon-containing emissions. By using the same technology on our lawn, we are only contributing to the damage. True, the batteries of electric types are also causing some environmental damage, but at the moment it is far less than what fossil fuels have already done.

Then there is the maintenance. With a gasoline engine, you have to spend a lot more money to keep it running. There is the gas itself, the oil, the tune-ups, and the blade sharpening, all of which could total about 0 per year. On the other hand, an electric engine will need electricity (which is currently cheaper than gas), some blade sharpening, and little else. Besides saving yourself some effort, you could also save a lot of money with this engine type.

Finally, there is the effectiveness. Some people don't prefer to go electric because the engines are not as powerful, but how big is the average lawn anyway? If you will have the discipline to mow when the grass is dry, and before the grass gets too high, then the effectiveness is virtually the same for an average sized lawn. Unless of course, you have a mansion, which may be the only case where the gasoline-powered machines will be superior.
